Artisanal Batik Wood Coaster

Our Magnolia Batik Wood coasters come single, set of 2 or 4.

These unique batik coasters made from solid mahogany wood, coloured using batik technique. Intricate design carefully wax by batik artist to create a resist and the wood is then dyed with batik dye.  Finally the wax is removed revealing the batik design and wood texture underneath, before being sealed and polished to ensure the coaster is food safe. 

The design of this coaster was inspired by the Magnolia flowers that blooms in early spring, a representation of beauty encompassing femininity and gentleness. They are a great fit for flower lovers or someone who is intrigue by this ancient javanese craft.

Care Instruction

We finish the coaster with a coat of bio wax to prevent water seepage into the grain and to help prevent the growth of bacteria.

• For maintenance, it is recommended to polish with bio wax every month. We do not recommend coating the wood with coconut or olive oil as it may produce a rancid smell.
• It is not recommended to soak the bowl. It's recommended to wash with soap, rinse and wipe dry immediately.
