Garden of Thoughts

This batik art print began with a building and became something much larger. The dramatic Palm House at Birmingham Botanical Garden is rendered here as a lantern, its architecture drawn in wax on fabric, and etched into the composition are the words of Birmingham's people: "Diverse", "Bad Traffic", "Family", "Vibrant". A city seen from the inside out, through the art of batik.

The original artwork is hand-drawn and hand-dyed using traditional batik. Hot wax is applied directly to fabric, resisting the dye to build depth and texture that no digital process can replicate. What you receive is a high-quality fine art reproduction of that original piece, printed to preserve every line and tone.
