Celebrate the lunar new year with Batik Ying! Learn the cultural art of batik painting and lantern making in this hands-on workshop, as you enjoy a plate of delicious dumplings from Blow Water Cafe to fuel your creativity. 

What is modern contemporary batik?

It's a brand-new kind of art which combines traditional Malaysian batik techniques with modern art. This fun and therapeutic workshop is suitable for anyone, even absolute beginners.

Through this 2-hour workshop, you will make your own batik lantern while learning about the making of traditional batik.

What to expect:

• Learn about the history of batik, how it is made, and the tools & materials needed for batik canting
• Experiment with mixing colours to produce the right tone and shade
• Paint on pre-waxed modern batik lantern
• Get tips and tricks from a batik artist
• All materials and tools provided
• A beautiful batik lantern just in time for Mid Autumn Festival
• A plate of dumpling from Blow Water Cafe
